Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Wilton 2105-5038 Giant Cupcake Pan

Customer Review: This is so much fun!
Summary: 5 Stars

I ordered this for a friend's birthday who loves cupcakes because I knew she would get a kick out of it. I wasn't sure if it would be worth it since how often do you really have an opportunity to make a giant cupcake. Now, I'm so glad I got it! The pan is very high quality and I had no trouble getting the cake to release after greasing and flouring it. I had so much fun putting the cake together and got so many compliments on it. I have a line of people waiting to borrow it to make their own. I am planning to use it for my niece's birthday in a few months. I would recommend using a pastry bag to frost it as it gives it a really nice finished look and with the spiral ridge baked right into the top it's very easy to follow the swirl.

One other thing I will recommend is not to use all ten cups of batter. I put 5 cups in each side and it mushroomed. I have to pull it out and scoop it off so that the middle would cook all the way through. I think I will try filling it halfway next time instead.

Customer Review: Fantastic - but time consuming
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a good product. It is well made, and it actually DOES come with directions - not sure what those other folks received. However, if you don't anticipate at least a 4 hour cake project, do not buy this product. The bake time alone is 70 minutes, but the finished product was DELISH! The recipe that is included: chocolate chip pound cake, is absolutely decadent, but it is a 'from scratch' recipe and so took a bit more time. For the decorating part, you MUST have decorator tips/bags or a Wilton decorator gun. I used both and the gun fared much better with smoother control. TIP: if using canned icing, slightly chill before using otherwise it will fall right off of the cake. I topped with jumbo confetti sprinkles to cover the oops spots (I'm sure it will get easier with practice) and it turned out really cute. Everyone was really impressed! I can see how a boxed mix would be too soft and so toughening up with use of dry pudding mix or an extra egg as one review suggested would be in order.

Customer Review: Best Pan Ever
Summary: 5 Stars

I had been using a different brand of this pan and loved it, but didn't feel like the proportions was correct. When looking to buy this one, since it was a different brand, I noticed that it had a lot of mixed reviews and I took the time to read them all and take the advice that had been given. They were right.

I love this pan, it produces the most adorable cakes!

What to do in order for you to love it, too.
- fill the bottom half first and put it into the oven for 20-30 minutes before filling the top half. (Really, this isn't a big deal, you just have to pull out the rack and fill it, you'll be happy once the cake is done)
- let the pan cool COMPLETELY before attempting to remove the cakes (otherwise your cake is not going to come out correctly and you're not going to be a happy camper)

That's it!

Kids really love this! You can have so much fun decorating it. It's very versatile.

Customer Review: Love this CupCake Pan!
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this pan for my 4yr olds birthday. I've made two test runs, ahead of time. Each time the cake popped right out, here's what I did that worked:

I followed the manufacturers recommendations to wash with soap and warm water, then I used Bakers Joy w/flour already in the spray very generously. The first time I freely filled each pan & ended up w/one side too short and one too full. On my second run, I found measuring about 4 cups into each side was just right, a little over on each side, easily cut off with a bread knife. I baked according to the boxed time for bundt cake and that seems to be the correct temp & time.

One concern, bakes unevenly, but most of that was cut out when evening out the cake.

I do wish Wilton would have provided tips, it's almost as if they didn't test their product.

Top Quality - Love this Cupcake Pan!

Customer Review: CROWD PLEASER
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought the pan a couple days ago in store. I have an event this weekend that I thought it would be perfect for. After reading everyone's reviews and doing extensive research on how to bake with this pan, I attempted to do a test run last night.I used bakers joy to coat both sides of the pan I used two boxes of Pillsbury funfetti cake mix. One for each side. I had the oven at 375, placed the pan with the top portion towards the front of the oven. It baked in 60 minutes exactly The outside of the cake, the part you have to cut anyway was kind of crunchy, but not burnt (almost like a cookie) and the inside of both parts remained moist. The cake came out of the pan effortlessly, be careful the cake is kind of heavy. I did not ice it because it was just a test run. Baking it was so easy I could have done it without the test run. I am excited to use it for my event this weekend!
